Mamma Mia!

Today was “Mamma Mia” day…not only did we see the film (loved it!), but we had the “Angel Team” clean our home. It was a gift from an anonymous source (which will remain so!). But let me say for the record, it was the best gift I have ever received. Better than a cruise (almost!).

While the “Angel Maids” went to work, Mark and I treated ourselves to a film. Our first date since the accident. We held hands for two hours (a first in a long time), cried together (I wiped my tears on his shirt; he wiped his on mine), and we laughed until we were doubled over. Had it not been for the sold- out crowd, we probably would have danced in the aisles (literally!).

Pierce Brosnan was definitely not the lead singer, but Meryl Streep’s performance was unforgettable. My son, Jon, reminded me via cell phone on the way to the theater that the film only received 54% on “Rotten Tomatoes,” but I told him that’s because he’s 20-something and I’m 50-something, and there are some films that need to be appreciated for the value they bring to the soul: laughter mingled with tears.

When we returned home, the “angels” had left. I never had a “cleaning lady” before, but now I’m totally spoiled rotten. And to think I actually thought I was a good housekeeper. Silly me! The toilet paper was folded into a “V” shape; the windows sparkled so brightly they hurt my eyes, and the floors...well, let’s just say I could see my reflection in them.

Amazing!

Jon arrived home first, so there was already a “paper” trail of shoes, laptop, tennis racquet, New York Times and Newsweek scattered across the floor leading to the dining room table!

For a brief moment in time, I felt as if I was in someone else’s home (only the pictures on the wall gave me a clue as to whose house it actually belonged to). I turned to my hubby and said, “Mamma Mia,” can you believe this squeaky clean house?”

To the anonymous giver of the “Angel Maids” we say, “Thank you...thank you…thank you! You go into the ‘Caregiver’s Hall of Fame.’”

It's amazing what a squeaky clean house will do to the mind and soul; I feel like a new woman. I think I just might have to keep it this way (smile!).

HUGS!

I try not to listend to any movie critics. When they say that a movie is the best movie of the year, I know I will hate it. I think like you, it has to do with the age thing.

I would love to get a maid for the day but I know my wife would get spoiled and want them to come back again and again. Did they put mints on the bed? I still haven't figured why we put frilly pillows on our bed every day when we don't have guests in our bedroom. :)

Oh Greg, I forgot to check if there was chocolate on our pillows. Well, if there was it's all squished now (smile!).

You're a smart guy...don't let your wife know how wonderful a cleaning lady is (it's addicting!).

Shh...I'll keep it a "secret."

Hi Connie - I too went to see Mamma Mia and LOVED IT!!! The music brought back so many memories of my "teen" years - ABBA - the music was wonderful - I wanted to get up and dance - it truly is a movie that puts a smile on your face afterwards. YES YES what a blessing to have your house cleaned and for it to be a gift. WOW!! It's a great feeling knowing everything is clean and you don't have to do a thing - peace of mind to enjoy the rest of your day! Great news that Mark is recovering well.

Carol,

How nice to see you here: "Thee Prayer Chair Club."

We need to start a "Mamma Mia" fan club. If that movie doesn't have you singing and dancing, I don't know what will!

It reminded us so much of the island of Sicily; I'll have to post a picture of that tomorrow.

HUGS!
